INSTALLATION

Originally a dance film series and now developing into an installation, EXPERIMENT for transformation (working title) began early in the pandemic. Finding a primary refuge in visiting gardens and forests during this time, the video series featuring three homebound characters’ began to incorporate water, sky and clouds. Eventually the project’s development shifted to nature, the alignment of the plant and human worlds, and specifically pollination. Pollination is a two-way mutually beneficial process, the interconnectedness of all life forms and the importance of harmony between humans and nature.

As a young girl, I sold fruits and vegetables for my cousins in Pennsylvania who are farmers, also visiting my Uncle who was a bee keeper. Later in high school, taken by the wizardry of the bee’s figure-8 dance in communicating the location of nectar for the hive, my research focused on the dance.

Cynthia is teaming up with music artist Omar Zubair, filmmaker Jahmani Perry, performers Victoria Murphy and Yumiko Niimi, and scientist Kent Schwendy in the explorations.
